THE LARGEST BRONZE BELL IN THE WORLD
On New Year's Eve, 2000, the Tianrui Group at Pingdingshan City, Henan province, China successfully cast a huge bell named the Lucky Bell. It is the largest working bell in the world. Casting was accomplished in one act without any trial. The Lucky Bell weighs 116 metric (127 US) tons (its designed weight was 108 metric (119 US) tons), and it is 810.8 cm (318 in) in height and 511.8 cm (201 in) in diameter. It has good surface quality with clear veined decoration and characters. Its alloy is reasonable and exact, and its geometrics are well-proportioned. It has excellent tonal range, simple tone color, and long lingering sound. It is a monument in bell making history in China as well as in the world.
